Easter Monday

200 metres from our hotel a glorious black swan is sitting on a rather large nest, we sighted her eggs. This sign is a short distance away from her.  The waterbirds seem unaffected and King’s Park is great but many similar signs abound, unfortunately.

Today we explored beachside suburb of Cottesloe and cosmopolitan Northbridge. The girls were in good form and funny for most of the day but Lucy, who wanted to sit high on the sun dial at Cottesloe Beach, then panicked. Sarah said this was her favourite photo of the day (as were were looking at the pics on the computer back in our room); she is such a wit.

Had a great meal at the Good Fortune Duck House (recommended for it’s cheap and cheerful, ‘authentic’, Chinese food) in Williams Street and some scrumptious cake at Tarts, near the Northbridge Hotel. Many a mile walked today – we’ll sleep well tonight.

Oh, just remembered something from yesterday on the plane. The woman in front of us was extracting a variety of items from her bag – to make what looked like it was going to be a lunch of nutella sandwiches – when a knife fell into the aisle. The expression on the guy’s face sitting across seemed to reflect what I was thinking; security screening, well worth our time. Maybe it was the nutella? Who could take a knife off someone has harmless as that…

Catch the ferry from Barrack Street Jetties to Rottnest Island early tomorrow morning; no internet for a few days.

  1. Dear friends, So nice to hear from you so soon. We have all returned to preschool after a lovely long weekend break. I really enjoyed your photos. Lucy is going to have so much news to tell when she returns! I will try to show the children your blog and post some of their comments to Lucy. Keep well. Love Maria

  2. Glad everything is going so well and hopefully it will continue. I hope the sea is calm going to Rottnest as it was lovely when we went over but the weather had come up before our return trip and Bec vowed she would never leave land again. We had to stay seated, with difficulty, and stay inside. We loved Rottnest and the girls should have fun. Love Mum
